WINNIPEG BEACH -- Lee Hanson, the town’s recreation director, recently announced his resignation. Hanson, who’s been with the town since February 2004, is headed south to Selkirk where he will accept a position as an activity coordinator at a seniors home.
Chief administrative officer Marion Grogan noted council had “accepted, with regret, the resignation of Lee Hanson.”
Hanson has been the driving force behind keeping the Main St. bandstand humming during the summer. He’s also partnered with the Beach rec centre and the Winnipeg Beach School to offer a variety of recreational programs for youngsters, adults and senior adults.
His departure comes at a time when the town is redefining its relationship with the volunteer-run rec centre. Hanson was considered a key element in that transformation
